Having spent 15 months living in temporary accommodation I finally found a house! Lying in North Essex on a 2.15 acre plot its a 1960’s built 3 storey house which looks a little like a ski chalet. It has beautiful views and lies just over a mile from a vibrant village which has 3 pubs and also a 20 minute walk to another lovely village pub. My husband’s only requirement when we were looking for a house, other than being able to afford it, was that he could walk to a pub. I have given him 4 plus an Indian restaurant! Job done!
The house had been owned by the same family since it was built and it had obviously been a really happy home. So a great location, beautiful grounds and good Karma. The downside was that there was no central heating, only an old Aga for cooking and heating, poor insulation, it needed re-wiring, new windows, the bathrooms and kitchen were in need of updating – what wasn’t there to love!
So after an agonising sealed bid offer process in December 2016 we found ourselves the proud owners of a renovation project. Christmas was fast approaching so we embarked on a 9 day mini-renovation project with the aim of being in by Christmas! I booked the removal guys for the 20 and 21 December and off we went!
